Chuckin discs

        Summer is finally here in the mountains and hobbies of all types are getting fired up. There is no shortage of them in any place in the area but in the woods and brush there are only a few that can and do take up the spaces in between. The one we are here to rejoice about is Disc Golf. 

        A walk in the woods and in the park, throwing frisbees through tight windows in the branches and tossing them into chained baskets. There is no greater joy for some and the joy is spreading. It is a simple sport in essence, one that doesn't require much equipment, knowledge or experience to enjoy. It can be played in all types of landscapes and and many different levels. There are non-profits such as The Paul McBeth Foundation that are opening up the experience in all parts of the country and world where Disc Golf wasn't readily available. 

        The sport is already very popular in parts of europe, particularly in some scandinavian countries where there is a surplus of somewhat rugged, wooded terrain that doesn't lend itself to much else but is fantastic for disc golf. The European Open draws huge crowds every year. 

                                                                        

Next year, the world championships will be held overseas in Europe for the first time ever. 

        There are courses springing up around the United States that are on large tracts of privately owned land, cut and trimmed to create disc golf masterpieces. One such course, Eagles Crossing has come into some recognition for big money skins matches it has held recently, where professionals own what was until then, unheard of amounts of money for a competition.
